The Latter-day Ambassadors have been performing musical firesides since 1993. It all started in Southern California in the city of Orange in Orange County. It was here that Tinā formed a 30 voice choir and began performing firesides up and down the coast of California, Las Vegas, and Utah.
Tinā has written all the music they sing, so combined with their unique blend of Polynesian harmonies and powerful messages, they are able to create spiritually charged firesides that inspire and touch the hearts of those in attendance. In August of 2007 Tinā and her husband, Denny, moved their family to Ogden, Utah where they now reside. For the past 2 years, Denny and Tinā have formed a new choir called the Latter-day Ambassadors of Utah. Tinā (Purcell) Niumatalolo was born and raised in New Zealand. She is of Maori/Samoan descent. Her love of music was passed down from her musically talented parents (Bertie & Hariata Purcell), who met while serving a Labor Mission in Temple View, Hamilton, New Zealand. Her father helped build the New Zealand Temple and many other chapels throughout NZ, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; he died tragically, when she was 3 years old. Tinā attended Church College of New Zealand and it was there at the tender age of 12 she wrote her first song “The Temple on the Hill” which was inspired by the view of the temple from her dorm room window, thus a tribute to her late father. From that day forward, Tinā has been blessed to create beautiful music, purely from the heart and without notes. She has inspired many. Tinā founded “The Latter-Day Ambassador Choir” in both California and Utah, together with the love and support of her husband, Denny Niumatalolo, who is also the Choir Music Director. They are honored to be able to serve the Lord by sharing the gospel through musical firesides.
